Juvenilia is work produced by an author or artist while they were a child.
This exhibition showcases the juvenilia of Australian children’s authors and illustrators and their early attempts at storytelling.
Everyone starts somewhere. Whether it is handwriting stories on scrap paper or drawing pictures in pencil and then rubbing them out, today’s most prominent creators of children’s books all started as children too, dreaming about being able to publish their own story.

“Have you ever experienced the joy of looking at the Art of a child? Such a great initiative that should be a national exhibit. An insightful and important exhibit that deserves to be included at places like the Bologna Children’s Book Fair in Italy.”

“Seeing the early drafts reassures young people that even professionals start with rough ideas. The best ideas can start anywhere, even in your backyard.”
